This exhibition will see Bye continue his artistic investigations of quotidian materials by constructing a large scale sculpture within the expanse of Big Orbit’s open floor plan. Scott Bye is a Buffalo-based artist who’s practice involves manipulating found materials and everyday objects into creative fabrications and unlikely structures. His work can be found in museums, galleries, and various collections across New York State, the city of Buffalo, and the Greater Western New York region. “My work, hybrid sculptural structures constructed from a broad range of ordinary found materials, is intended to activate the viewer’s imagination and encourage them to question the potentiality of their own obsolescence. The objects that I use all have preordained paths and established histories whose future is determined by their usefulness. By redirecting the object’s likely path towards obsolescence, through combining and repurposing them, I create a set of new trajectories for the objects to inhabit. Such unlikely combinations often raise questions and suggest new perceptions about materiality. By transforming the materials that were once a part of our everyday
