PROCESS & PRACTICE: THE ART OF CEPA EDUCATORS

At CEPA, we pride ourselves on our extensive educational programming. However, none of it would be possible without our amazing network of teaching artists. Process & Practice: The Art of CEPA Educators is an exhibition meant to celebrate the work of both our guest teachers and our education staff.

While these teaching artists demonstrate their professional photographic processes at every CEPA workshop, afterschool program, and summer camp, it is not everyday that they get a chance to demonstrate what they are working on in their personal practices. Process & Practice is a combination of these two artistic categories. This exhibition serves as both a glimpse into the classroom and a way to see beyond the teaching sphere.

“Born out of the alternative space movement of the mid-70s, CEPA was founded by a small group of individuals committed to learning and teaching. Over the last fifty years, the gallery has expanded well beyond its original scope. However, at its core, we are still a group of passionate artists dedicated to sharing knowledge and creating inclusive communities outside of traditional academic forums. I’m proud to work with such a wonderful group of individuals, as diverse in personality and background as their approaches to photography and the skills they share with our community,” says CEPA’s Education Director, Nathan Ely.

Please join us in the FLUX Gallery, on November 17th and December 1st, from 6 pm. – 7 pm for a series of Artist talks on the exhibition Process & Practice: The Art of CEPA Educators. Artists will be announced soon!
