We made new friends this year, partnering on projects with Wakanda Alliance, Family Help Center, and the Buffalo School for Culinary Arts and Hospitality. We continued collaborations with Starlight Studio, Community Services for Every 1, Journey’s End and the Jewish Community Center. Our year long Photography Works program is in full swing. Students of all ages and abilities and from all walks of life visit CEPA to gain skills in the arts. Activities include learning the science of photography by making a camera as well as how chemicals work in the darkroom to create a photograph. Students learn the digital side of things as well, using digital cameras and working in photoshop in CEPA’s Mac lab to edit and print their photographs. The photo studio was busy with students taking portraits, table top and food photography. They experimented with shooting film, sometimes sharing the same roll to create double exposures. Whether inspired by CEPA’s exhibitions, walks down Main Street or simply from discussions with our wonderful teaching artists, young students and those new to photography show us their creativity! Please visit us to see work by each and every student!
Thank you to our teaching artists: Aitina Fareed-Cooke, Rachel Johnson, Chase Kunz, Ruby Merritt, Ahmad Nieves, Tara Raftovich, Saffi Rigberg, Jeannine Swallow and Michelle Tomaino.
