$120.00 – $150.00
A 3-Day Workshop
December 3,10 & 17, 2020
This class is a beginner crash course on organizing and retouching images, incorporating techniques that can be used on an array of photographic genres, from portraits to landscapes, in order to create the perfect image.
We will establish a familiarity with organizing images through Adobe Bridge and manipulating images in Adobe Photoshop. We will cover the whole process – starting with organizing your images, using an array of Photoshop retouching techniques, and finishing with properly exporting images based on their intended use.
Adobe Bridge is a free digital asset management app in the Adobe Creative Suite, pivotal for anyone learning retouching, as an interface used to create an organized archive of images. We will learn how to rank images, create a contact sheet, create and organize folders, review image metadata, and maintain an organized workflow.
Photoshop has many avenues for retouching and it may be difficult to know where to start, or how to properly maintain workflow. We will review the most important tools and adjustment layers to perfect your photo, as well as learn multiple ways of refining your edits to create a naturally retouched product. Lessons include working with Photoshop brushes, understanding adjustment layers, recognizing filetypes, perfecting exposure, color correction, dodging/burning, beautifying techniques such as retouching skin/hair and removing unwanted elements, enhancing textures, resizing and cropping, and an introduction to the essence to the magic of Photoshop: building and refining masks, applying special effects, basic introduction to compositing, and other methods of editing your images without damaging them (by using layer masks).
This workshop is limited to 10 participants.

6:30 p.m.–8:30 p.m.

Natalie DiIenno graduated with her Masters in Fine Arts from the University at Buffalo in 2017 (Buffalo, New York), and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Florida in 2014 (Gainesville, FL). As a member of a set of triplets with an identical sister, she became interested in how one associates with themself outside of their physical body (examples of this include personally identifying with images of oneself or one’s virtual self on social media, and in her case, identifying with an identical person). She moved to Buffalo to continue her studies in art and theory, especially in relation to representation, language, and imagery. Since finishing her Master’s, she has been teaching photography and art at the university level.
