Focus Residency

CEPA’s Current Focus Resident: Faith Mikolajczyk

Faith’s Project:

“During my residency, I will be experimenting with 100 different alternative printing processes, including anthotype, cyanotype processes, lumen processes, and other experiments in the darkroom! Recently, especially when it comes to my art-making practice, I have had a desire to explore sustainability as well as slowing down the photographic process. In a world where we are oversaturated with images and forced into rampant consumerism, sometimes I think the only way to return to the heart of photography is by embracing the processes we’ve left behind.”

The goal of the Focus Residency is to support emerging local artists through mentorship, professional development, and active community engagement. For four months, the Resident Artist will have 24/7 access to a studio in CEPA’s Focus Gallery, where street-facing windows offer the public a view into the creative process while making the arts more accessible. The Resident Artist will also host monthly public events designed to foster connection and encourage participation within the community.
