TOGETHER WE ARE: VALERIE KASINSKI (2015)

CEPA Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of photographs by 2014 CEPA Members’ Exhibition Award winner Valerie Kasinski entitled Together We Are.

This body of photographs seeks to establish a connection between the figure and the environment. Stemming from her Involvement with an international cohort of like-minded photographers, it has led to cross-country travel and a connection to an artistic diaspora that has dramatically affected Valerie’s relationship to the idea photography, people, and place.

Together We Are explores the connection between strangers becoming friends and the locations where those connections came to be. This ongoing project will continue throughout the United States and eventually to other countries.

Valerie Kasinski grew up in Alden, NY, a verdant and pastoral area that continues to inform her work. Kasinski received her associates in graphic design and a BFA in photography at Villa Maria College. She has exhibited work at galleries such as Burchfield-Penney Art Center(Buffalo, NY), Calumet Gallery(New York, NY), CEPA Gallery(Buffalo, NY), and Hi-Temp Fabrication Gallery(Buffalo, NY).

Together We Are will be on view from January 30 – February 28, 2015 in the FLUX Gallery on the first floor. An opening reception with the artist will be held on Friday January 30th from 7pm-10pm. This exhibition and event is free and open to the public. All are welcome to attend.
