Places I’ve Been With Bob, an exhibition by Stephen Gabris
CEPA Gallery is excited to announce the opening of Places I’ve Been With Bob, an exhibition by Stephen Gabris. There will be an opening reception on December 9, 2022 from 5-8 PM. The show is taking place in the historic Market Arcade Building located at 617 Main St in Buffalo and will run until January 25, 2023.
Stephen Gabris’s latest exhibition is a visually beautiful and touching tribute to his late father-in-law. In the words of the artist,
“As time passes, I have been forced to look at my images (on more than one occasion) as a recollection of an experience had with someone now gone. It’s an odd piece of debitage that we collect along the way in this field. My father-in-law was a complicated man. I feel he’s best represented by the description of Jack Welch, ‘he hugged while kicking.’
When you travel, it’s a true test of all of your collected skills to that point: to arrive, to adapt, to see, to experience, and to come home.
All of these were accumulated during our adventures. Traveling with my father-in-law over the past 20+ years, we experienced some pretty amazing places. Honestly, I think we would have fun going just about anywhere. He was an observer of people. He liked to ‘figure it out.’
I’m an observer too. Bob, my father-in-law passed away in November of 2021. We miss him. I miss traveling with him; debating with him; making each other laugh.
These images are a reflection of the time we spent together and the things we saw.
Thanks, Bob.”
