Photography Works: Class of 2023

Opening reception on Friday, June 16th from 5:00 – 8:00 PM.

Join CEPA on June 16th, 2023, from 5-8 PM, to celebrate the opening of Photography Works, the culminating exhibition for CEPA’s Photography Works Class of 2022-2023. Photography Works is a free year-long mentorship program designed to serve youth with a serious interest in photography.

Starting last September, this year’s group of students has attended a series of workshops, demonstrations, and artist talks. During this time, they’ve learned many different aspects of photography, everything from photograms in the darkroom to studio lighting. They have been coming to CEPA each week to work on their own self-directed photography projects, which will be exhibited from June 16th to August 4th. These are projects that each student has conceived and developed themselves, bringing their own ideas out into the world – a daunting task for artists of any age.

Any student aged 15-20 who is interested in being a part of the 2023-2024 Class can submit their interest here to receive an application. This year’s group of creatives is comprised of 10 students from across Buffalo with diverse backgrounds, interests, and goals. CEPA is proud to support their work as they move forward in their journeys as young creatives.

Says Nate Ely, Education Director: “For young adults just starting out on their creative journey, this exhibition should mark a major accomplishment and the culmination of months of work. We look forward to sharing their projects with our community and celebrating their hard work!”
