HOLLIS FRAMPTON(2015)

Hollis Frampton

CEPA Gallery, in partnership with Dean Brownrout Modern/Contemporary, is honored to announce an exhibition and sale of photographic artwork by artist Hollis Frampton. The event takes place June 20-September 5, 2015 at CEPA Gallery, 617 Main Street, Buffalo, New York.

The exhibition and sale is the first comprehensive survey of the late artist’s print work in over 30 years. Many pieces in the exhibit have never been presented in a gallery setting.

Hollis Frampton (1936-1984) is an avant-garde icon—a pioneering filmmaker, art theorist, and photographer. He was on the SUNY Buffalo Department of Media Study faculty from 1973-1984.

His photographs are held in many important collections including the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Walker Art Center, Harvard University, and the Museum of Modern Art. The MoMA is the repository of his motion picture archive.
