Alex Cassetti: Bending Light

I am excited to announce that my solo show Bending Light will be showing at CEPA Gallery from April 7th – May 5th. The opening reception will be this Friday 4/7 from 5-8pm. I will be presenting my graduate thesis work from my time studying at the University at Buffalo.Â

Bending Light is a selection of images from my own collection of film negatives accumulated over the past 12 years. The process involves selecting, photographing, and in many cases re-photographing so that the two-dimensional source print (or film negative) is shaped into three-dimensional form before finally being printed onto a large sheet of inkjet transparency.
This produces undulating transparent surfaces and casts shadows on the wall behind, which together create mesmerizing effects with their double images.
