Our Juror for this year is Zack Boehler, Public Art Project Coordinator at the Buffalo AKG Art Museum. Zack joined the Buffalo AKG Art Museum (formerly the Albright-Knox) in 2017 as Public Art Project Coordinator. In this capacity, he has worked with the Curator of Public Art to broaden the scope of the initiative to include internationally recognized muralists and artists including Jun Kaneko, Logan Hicks, Felipe Pantone, Bunnie Reiss, and Tavar Zawacki. During the closure of the Buffalo AKG Art Museum’s campus for a large-scale expansion project, Boehler worked to help realize exhibitions inside the AK Northland satellite space including Swoon: Seven Contemplations. He co-curated Sarah Braman: Finding Room, a contemporary art exhibition in and around the Frank Lloyd Wright Graycliff Estate and most recently co-curated the first retrospective of the work of Futura 2000 for the University at Buffalo. Boehler received his Bachelor of Sciences and Master of Sciences degree from the State University of New York College at Buffalo in Art Education where he was selected as a SUNY Fellow. He has held previous positions at The Ashford Hollow Foundation, Griffis Sculpture Park, Only Comrades and Big Orbit Gallery’s Soundlab. Boehler maintains a studio practice in painting and installation work.
This year, one winner will be selected from the participants. The winner will receive a free solo exhibition to be held at CEPA Gallery in Fall 2025. In order to be considered for the juried portion of the show, you must submit a portfolio consisting of 10 images that represent a cohesive body of work (must be reflective of the one piece put into the show) along with an artist statement and resume. The portfolios must be submitted by the final day of drop-off, and need to be emailed to submissions@cepagallery.org.
We hope you will please join us in celebrating our talented Members by attending the opening reception which will take place on August 9, 2024, from 5 – 8 PM at 617 Main St Buffalo, NY 14203.
