Statement Regarding the Recent Flood at CEPA

On February 6th, 2026, CEPA Gallery suffered the effects of a devastating water pipe rupture, causing substantial flooding at CEPA and significant damage to our education facilities.

A significant portion of our specialized equipment, including computers, film scanners, and printers, was damaged. Evaluating all of our equipment will take some time. Hopefully, some equipment can be repaired. However, we know there are certain key pieces of equipment that are definitely destroyed.

Unfortunately, for the time being, major programs like Alternative Perspectives (arts learning for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities), Photography Works (fine arts and workforce development training for young artists), and other community-centered programs like Open Facilities Night will suffer interruptions.

As of now, all facilities bookings and on-site workshops are canceled at least through the remainder of February. We use our Education Suite in support of exhibitions and virtually all programming at CEPA. Without its use, we will be at a standstill.

How Can You Help CEPA?

In The Meantime

CEPA’s administrative offices and 1st floor galleries were not obviously impacted. Face ID: A Surveil of Che-Wei Hsu will officially open to the public on Thursday, February 12, between 1:00–4:00p.m. (the reception and programs will be delayed). Stay tuned for an update regarding our Focus Resident, Faith Mikolajczyk’s modified programming.

As different services, equipment, and programs come back online, we will post about it on social media (@cepagallery).
