The Last Eclipse by Joseph Poloncarz

The Last Eclipse by Joseph Poloncarz

The Last Eclipse is a project where I shot the legendary polaroid pack film that has been around since the 1980s to capture instant photos that you peel apart just like the original Polaroid pack film from the 1960s. It was famously discontinued. I tried getting that film but there was a shortage (like toilet paper) and the expense had risen meaning I could not get the film. But, CEPA had a stash and they donated to me the last few packs of Fuji FP100C  to shoot one last time on this iconic film. All instant photos were taken with a Polaroid 320 Automatic Land Camera.

Joseph Poloncarz came to CEPA in 2012 for a photography program through Autism Services. He became really interested in the darkroom and over the years taught himself a lot about film, chemistry and all things darkroom. Fast forward to 2018, he started assistant teaching for our summer camps. In 2019, while interning at CEPA through City Honors, he taught his first photography class to young students from his alma mater, Autism Services. He taught a second class in Fall 2019 to his adult peers from Autism Services. Joseph is an organized, creative and thoughtful teacher and CEPA is honored to have him as one of our teaching artists! Joseph was part of the Photography Works Program, plays hockey, likes watching football and is truly a darkroom genius. If you have any questions about vintage cameras or film, he is your go to guy!
