3rd Annual Oseroff Memorial Purchase Prize.

Western New York Artists Invited
to Submit Photographic Work by August 14, 2015.

CEPA Gallery is proud to be administering the 3rd Annual Oseroff Memorial Purchase Prize on behalf of the Roswell Park Cancer Institute and the Roswell Park Alliance Art Committee.

The Oseroff Memorial Purchase Prize is named in memory of Dr. Allan R. Oseroff, Chief of Dermatology from 1989 until his death in 2008. Dr. Oseroff, a world-renowned expert in photodynamic therapy, had a life-long interest in photography and the visual arts. He was an empathetic physician who blended true caring with the latest scientific advances to become greatly loved by his patients and fellow staff. The prize is supported by an endowment from grateful patients and friends with a major contribution from his wife, Dr. Stephanie Pincus, and children Ben, Tamara and Matt. The prizes are designed to enhance the environment for all members of the Roswell Community.

Each year the Oseroff Memorial Purchase Prize is awarded to one regionally significant photographer whose artwork is identified as being of exceptional quality. The selected work will become part of the permanent collection of Roswell Park Cancer Institute and be prominently displayed in a public area of the hospital alongside the work of many of this region’s notable artists. Past recipients of the Prize include artists Jennifer Formica (2014) and Kevin Noble (2013).

This year’s winning artwork will be announced by CEPA Gallery on September 1, 2015. The winning artist will be officially welcomed by the Roswell Park Cancer Institute and CEPA Gallery during a private ceremony recognizing the artist and honoring Dr. Oseroff on September 17, 2015, at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, NY.

Submission Process
The 2015 Oseroff Memorial Purchase Prize will be in the amount of $1,000 and will be administered as follows:

The chosen work will be selected from an open call for submissions by photographers residing within 100 miles of Buffalo, NY, or those living outside the area who have strong ties to the region. The intention of the fund is to purchase a single work of art as opposed to multiples or a series. The retail value of the work should be in proximity to the prize amount. The purchased work does not need to be framed as the fund will accommodate mounting and framing.

To be eligible for the Oseroff Memorial Purchase Prize artists are asked to submit up to three photographic works of art, along with image information, an artist resume, and a biography to: submissions@cepagallery.org with ‘Oseroff Memorial Purchase Prize’ in the subject line. Images should be in jpeg format and be no larger than 1MB each. Please label each image with artist’s last name and number them 1 – 3. (For example: lastname1.jpg) For each submitted image please include:

* Date produced
* Medium
* Size
* Retail Price

The deadline for submissions is Friday, August 14, 2015 at 11:59 PM. Submissions will be juried in two rounds. Shortlisted work will be publicized on CEPA Gallery’s website, Facebook and Instagram pages on August 18; the public will be able to comment on shortlisted works and the public comments will be considered during the selection of the Oseroff Memorial Purchase Prize. The winning artist will be announced on September 1 with a private presentation ceremony to be held at Roswell Park Cancer Institute on September 17.
