CEPA’s 12th Biennial Art Auction

CEPA Gallery is delighted to announce its 12th Biennial Art Auction on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at the Market Arcade Building in downtown Buffalo’s Theatre District.

Garnering significant recognition over the past 20 years, CEPA’s biennial auction is the only professional art auction in Western New York and one of Buffalo’s most glamorous and festive art events.

This year honorary co-chairs, New York State Senator Timothy M. Kennedy & Katie Kennedy, and Doctors Julio and Amy Alvarez-Perez, along with auction chair and CEPA Board President Nancy J. Parisi are proud to to be presenting the auction during CEPA’s 40th anniversary year and are certain that his will be the gallery’s most impressive auction offering to date.

CEPA has secured donations from an impressive roster of over 80 artists with local, national, and international acclaim including Cindy Sherman, Reed Anderson, Charles Clough, Milton Rogovin, William Wegman, John Pfahl, Ellen Carey, Alice O’Malley, Julian Montague, Justine Kurland, David Levinthal, Martin Kruck, and many more. Many of the artists represented in the auction are from or have strong connections to Buffalo, and the vast majority have participated in exhibitions at CEPA Gallery or its recent merger partner Big Orbit Gallery.

A preview exhibition of all of the works available for sale at the auction opens on Saturday, March 29 at CEPA Gallery and remains on view through auction day – Saturday, April 26. In conjunction with the preview exhibition, CEPA will present an exhibition of miniatures by the late photographer Milton Rogovin (1909-2011). This body of work has been selected by Mark Rogovin, Milton’s son, and includes prints from many of his father’s well known series. This exhibition will be installed in CEPA’s 3rd floor Passageway Gallery, continuing the long connection between Rogovin and CEPA Gallery.
