CEPA Gallery & The International Institute of Buffalo Presents:
Burma's Mother Irrawaddy
Law Eh Soe
Friday, May 11, 2012 from 5:30 - 8 p.m.
Law Eh Soe is a refugee from Burma who came to Buffalo under the U.S. government resettlement program about three years ago. The International Institute, where he now works as an interpreter, was the agency that brought him to Buffalo. As a photojournalist in Burma, Law photographed the Saffron Revolution, which under the military regime in Burma was a crime punishable by death. As such, he was forced to flee his home country and immigrate as a political refugee.
A documentary dealing with his experiences, Click in Fear, will be shown in conjunction with his breathtaking photos. Click in Fear won Best Documentary at the first ever Art of Freedom Film Festival in Rangoon in January 2012.

Milton Rogovin at 100
Photographs by Aaron Ingrao
Curated by Gerald Mead
Buffalo born photographer Aaron Ingrao conceived this series of images as a unique and reverential portrait study of renowned documentary photographer Milton Rogovin (1909-2011). During a 2009 visit to Rogovin's North Buffalo home and darkroom, Ingrao observed what he describes as a "time capsule" of the photographer's long and storied photographic career. The sensitive portraits and still life images of this series capture the tools and artifacts of Rogovin's profession and the fruits of his labor. They also echo the candid and frank portrayal of the everyday that characterized Rogovin's own photography.
CEPA Gallery & Just Buffalo Literary Center are proud to present the 4th Annual Writing with Light Student Exhibition, featuring selected works from the best of our education programs in 2010-2011
